During the workshop, the children will pack their bags leaving the Caribbean Island of Jamaica and board HMT Windrush to journey to post war Britain.

Through drama, role play, impro and song, they will look at the hardships and triumphs encountered by the Windrush generation and understand how this period in history has led to the vibrant, diverse, and multicultural society we see today.

Using drama-based activities, we will:

  • Explore and contrast life in the Caribbean and post war Britain

  • Re-create the journey on HMT Windrush

  • Look at aspects of migration and how the Windrush generation helped re-build Britain
  • Create a timeline of events leading to our recent Celebrations of The Windrush generation
  • Perform a poem
  • Celebrate diversity through song

  • Take part in a quick fire quiz
