This workshop is aimed at Year 5 and Year 6, looking to help boost children’s confidence as they prepare to move from primary to secondary school. During this session, we focus on ‘the voice’ and how by using it effectively, we not only build confidence and resilience, but improve communication skills.

During this workshop, the children will:

  • Explore the voice in relation to the whole body: breathing, anchoring, resonance, and articulation
  • Discover how the voice works: experimenting with how to create and control sound
  • Discuss different situations when you may need a confident voice: school assembly, reciting a poem in class, or simply getting your point across during discussion
  • Look at coping strategies to combat any anxiety felt from the thought of public speaking
  • Teach the children how to enjoy their voice and take charge of the space they are working in
